Cyberpunk 2077 Has an Absolutely Massive Script

With much of the recent news surrounding Cyberpunk 2077 focusing on the CD Projekt Red’s issues with crunch, it was nice to see some more positive buzz pop up recently on Twitter. CDPR’s Japanese localization shared an image of what is apparently only a “part” of the script for the game.

Given what we already know about Cyberpunk 2077, the image is impressive, but not surprising. In the recent Russian special edition of Night City Wire, one of the voice actors mentioned that there were “thousands” of lines of dialogue just for the NPCs going about their daily lives in Night City. There is also the fact that the game has three different starting Lifepaths, and so in addition to the dialogue for the various prologues, presumably there is different dialogue depending on whether you’re a Nomad, Streetkid, or working for a Corp.

Lead quest designer PaweÅ‚ Sasko is undoubtably in large part responsible for the immense length of Cyberpunk 2077‘s script. His ridiculously packed notebook looks like it has more than enough ideas to explain how the game’s voice actors ended up with so much work to do.

We wondered if part of the reason the Japanese team’s script is so huge is because it gained some size in translation, and after a bit of research it appears that the script could very well be slightly longer due to it being in Japanese characters. However, the sheer volume of the script would be impressive even if you reduced it by half!

Cyberpunk 2077‘s November 19th release date draws ever closer, and the Japanese team’s photos of the script only adds to the hype. We’ve already talked about how CDPR is trying to create a living, breathing Night City, and having lots of unique dialogue should go a long way towards making their dream a reality; just strolling through the streets of Night City promises to be a unique and engaging experience.

We’d love to hear what you think about Cyberpunk 2077‘s massive script! Is dialogue important to you, or will you be too busy running and gunning to notice what the bystanders on the way have to say? Let us know in the comments!
