Cyberpunk 2077 Is Now Steam Deck Verified

It’s not DLC news, but it’s still cool: Cyberpunk 2077 has officially been verified on Steam Deck. What this means, in short, is that the game should “work great on Steam Deck, right out of the box”. This is as opposed to games that require some control remapping, or other fiddling, in order to get the game to run or control properly. Anyone who has struggled to play a game marked “Playable” on Steam Deck will understand what a big difference this makes. Generally, the issues are related to inputs, but sometimes other functionality can be impaired as well.

We’re big fans of the Steam Deck here at EIP — although this writer personally cannot figure out how to make good use of the touchpad — largely due to how it lets us play games in waiting rooms, on couches, or while traveling. Cyberpunk 2077 is a great game to play on the Deck as well; builds that use smart weapons or melee weapons require little or no aiming, so using a stick to look around isn’t much of a hindrance. Besides, anyone who has played enough FPS titles with a controller and/or on consoles shouldn’t struggle with that anyway.

We’re still waiting on a release date for the upcoming Phantom Liberty DLC — all we know so far on that front is that it should release sometime this year. We also know that they’re once again bringing in a celebrity for a major story role, with Idris Elba slated to play FIA agent Solomon Reed. Cyberpunk 2077 may have had a troubled launch, but CD Projekt Red has done a decent job — albeit not a particularly quick one — of squashing bugs and adding content to the game. If they knock it out of the park with their upcoming DLC, it might be enough to redeem them in the eyes of the community. Only time will tell!
