[Leak] Leatherface Is Leaving Dead by Daylight

Update (1/17/2023)– It now appears that Leatherface is not leaving Dead by Daylight, based on an announcement from the official DBD Facebook page.

Leatherface, known in Dead by Daylight as The Cannibal (and also affectionately known as “Bubba”) is apparently leaving the DBD store soon. This information comes courtesy of DBDLeaks, a source that has tends to only leak accurate information — so much so, in fact, that many speculate that they are something of an “official” source for Dead by Daylight leaks, and are given their information by BHVR as part of their overall marketing strategy.

This comes after the recent discovery of code in the latest PTB patch that indicates Leatherface’s perks are becoming General perks (as in, not tied to a specific Killer). Between the leak and the data in the PTB, it seems very likely that Leatherface will indeed be leaving DBD soon.

As if that wasn’t enough proof, there’s also a new Leatherface game, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, visible on the Steam Store. More than even the leaks or the game’s code, that seems to be clear evidence that BHVR’s time with the license is lapsing, and that it won’t be renewed.

So what does that mean for players? Well, something similar happened with the Stranger Things license last year. In that instance, the content was removed from the store after a fairly long warning period. Players who purchased the Stranger Things content before it left the game’s store were able to continue using it — it’s very likely the same will hold true for The Cannibal. With that in mind, anyone who has been considering playing the character should keep an eye out for upcoming news. Don’t buy the Killer yet, however — if this indeed goes the way it did with the Stranger Things characters, Bubba should go on sale before he leaves the store entirely.

We don’t know about the rest of you, but frankly, if this means less camping Basement Bubbas, we’re kind of all for it. Let us know what you think in the comments!
