Dead by Daylight Is Now Steam Deck Verified

Better late than never, right? Dead by Daylight developer BHVR announced today on Steam that their asymmetric 1v4 multiplayer horror game is finally playable on Steam Deck. It’s been a long time coming, and “Verified” is infinitely better than the previous state of Dead by Daylight on the Deck, when it wouldn’t even launch. The green check mark means that not only is DBD now playable on the Deck, but it should function just as well as it does on other platforms (albeit with the natural limitations of the hardware still present in terms of things like graphical fidelity and FPS).

Perviously, DBD was not able to run on Proton (the compatibility tool Valve uses to run Windows games on the Linux-powered Steam Deck), but it appears that as of today, those issues have been solved! While it was possible to do things like stream from your PC to the deck, for many users latency was an issue; not to mention the fact that streaming was no help if you didn’t have a PC that could run the game. Workarounds were also possible, but they weren’t simple, and problems often arose with things like Easy Anti-Cheat.

If you’ve tried DBD on the Steam Deck, let us know what your experience was like in the comments below!
