Background

You’ll trigger this task if you fail the Shivers check at the Feld Building mural (#1) at the start of the task Look for Ruby on the Coast.

Walkthrough

When you fail the check, Shivers will tell you to “go to the children of the big sea.” Since the only children around are Lilienne’s, that’s who you should visit. Little Lily (#2) will tell you that the twins recently got into trouble for saying “bad words.” Meanwhile, the twins (#3) will tell you that they heard “funny voices,” and then they’ll start quoting a radio DJ. If Kim is with you, then he’ll recognize the chatter as coming from Speedfreaks FM. If Kim isn’t with you, then you’ll need to return with him later and have the twins repeat what they heard.

Kim will recommend that you talk to Isobel the washerwoman (#4), to see if she knows anything about a radio playing in the area, but Isobel will tell you that the only radio in the village is in her shack, and that it hasn’t been used lately. Then Kim will suggest that you use the radio in his car (#5) to call the station. You’ll contact DJ Mesh, and he’ll verify that the twins were quoting Speedfreaks FM. He’ll also reveal the name of the song that got them into trouble: “An Asshole Is a Mouth for S**t (and I’m Puking).” But when you ask Mesh how the twins could have heard the station without using a radio, he won’t have any idea.

Note: If you have 6 Reaction Speed when talking to Mesh, then you’ll be able to ask him for merchandise. At some point later (usually after the mercenary tribunal), when you talk to Garte in the Whirling-in-Rags (#6) he’ll have a package for you. Inside, you’ll find Speedfreaks DONKS.

Another Note: Calling DJ Mesh is much more amusing if you know that Kim is a fan of the station (which you can learn from the radio in his car). “Spoke to the wildest cop in Revachol. He asked us to give his buddy cop, long time listener Kim Kitsuragi, a big shoutout. Kim, we love you.”

When you talk to Kim again, he’ll suggest returning to the twins and asking them where they were when they heard the voices. They’ll point you to the Feld Building, right back where you started.

When you return to the Feld Building, you’ll need to examine the mural again. Now you’ll get an “impossible” Encyclopedia check as well as the “impossible” Shivers check. To complete this task, you’ll need to pass the Encyclopedia check, but passing either check will allow you to continue in the game.

Just like with the Shivers check, the Encyclopedia check will come with lots of bonuses, including +3 for searching Ruby’s lorry during the task The Jam Mystery, +3 for completing the task Inspect the Traps, +1 for completing the task Help Ravers Start a Nightclub, +1 for listening to Idiot Doom Spiral’s stories, +1 for having the Sirens dice set, and +1 for completing the task Meet Lilienne at Land’s End.

Passing the Encyclopedia check will complete the task and earn you 30 xp.
