Divinity II: Ego Draconis Reviews

Before we charge into the weekend, I thought I’d round up some more Divinity II: Ego Draconis reviews that landed on the web this week.

Loading Reality gives it a score of 3/5:

In the end, Divinity 2 just seems to be too rough around the edges to be considered good, heck it even barely makes it to the OK rating I’m giving it. What it does have going for it is an extreme amount of exploration, creative writing and quest trees, and an addictive style of gameplay. The fact that I was able to put up with all of its shortcomings and actually enjoy most of it is a positive in and of itself. If you’re a fan of any RPG released and enjoy dragons, pick this one up. If not, don’t bother. Get Dragon Age: Origins or Mass Effect 2.

Gaming Union gives it a score of 3/10:

Overall those looking for a solid PC game ported onto the Xbox 360 should look away from Divinity 2, as its glaring list of issues isn’t really featured in its counterpart. A reasonably fun questing and interaction system combine with unforgivably boring combat and poor controls to create an experience that few will enjoy experiencing. Add on a host of game crashing bugs (including one that directly affects save files) and the Divinity 2: Ego Draconis experience is complete. Those who are looking forward to the game may want to have the experience on the more stable PC version, otherwise this is a title worth skipping.

And then GameFocus gives the Xbox 360 version a 7.8/10 and the PC version an 8.3/10:

Divinity II Ego Draconis is not a game for the casual RPG fan; it is a time consuming, in-depth, story driven action/RPG that will require its players to decide ahead of time what they want out of their hero and to develop him or her with that thought in mind. The strongest aspects of Divinity II are the excellent story, so long as you are willing to dig it out, and the incredibly open-ended character skills customization. While this game certainly has its flaws, the pros far outweigh the cons, and it is a game that cannot be sipped but must be gulped or possibly even quaffed! So if the demo even remotely grabbed you, you should give Divinity II a try. It is one of the first gems of the new year and should not be missed.
