Stone’s Fortress Walkthrough

Stone’s Flying Fortress is accessed from the teleport found at #7 on the dungeon map. It is the place where you can finish the second quest given by either of the necromancers from the platform at the Battle Tower. Besides that, there’s a lot of useful loot to be picked up, especially in the golden chests scattered around the platforms.

The place has two entrances, one from the Orobas Fjords (#1a) and one from the ruined Broken Valley (#1b). While in the dragon form, take your time to clear all the towers for experience and then head to the platform to the west and clear that one up on ground as well. Take the portal at #2a.

The next area, Stone’s Passage, has two chests and a bunch of enemies. Clear it out and continue to #2b. This will take you outdoors again and a necromancer named Xanlosch along with his pet creature Isabelle will confront you. They are the objective of the quest Risk Life for Limb given by Joneloth. You should mindread the necromancer if you want him to drop a pair of gloves from Ulthring’s armor set. You’ll also find the generator which removes the central anti-dragon zone.

Next step should be to reach #5. That teleport leads to the main headquarters of Stone’s Fortress. You’ll confront Stone the first time at #6. Beware if you’re playing on higher difficulties because he hits really hard in melee (300+ damage against 60% resistance on Nightmare). Use your pet creature to help you out. Once he drops a certain percent of his life points, he’ll enter the teleport at #8.

Before following him, you should disable the summoning portal at #7 first. As you approach that shrine, you’ll notice four green glowing orbs on pedestals. Pick them up and place them on the altar to seal the portal and then head back to #8.

You’ll reach a large arena where Stone will battle you after you defeat his servants, a troll, a demon, a beholder and a bunch of ghosts. After they’re all dead, Stone will come once again to fight you. If you mindread him, he’ll drop the chestpiece for the Ulthring’s armor set. After he’s dead, make sure to loot all the corpses, as they drop powerful charms and items. Also, if you’re on the second quest for Igor (if he’s your necromancer), Stone will drop a special ring for it (Black Ring’s Ring). You’ll have to go back the way you came from.

The only thing left to visit is the Greenery (#3). About halfway in, you’ll find a chest with five herbs labeled as quest items. Take them to the well at #4 to get a reward. You can only use the well once. A combination of two herbs will do the trick and the rewards are as follows:

  • Black Rose and Moon Shine – 1 skill point
  • Oak Tears and Holy Basil – 5 stat points
  • Oak Tears and Fanny Blossom – 1000 Experience
  • Black Rose and Holy Basil – An Axe
  • Oak Tears and Black Rose – A Bow
  • Fanny Blossom and Holy Basil – A Cleaver
  • Moon Shine and Holy Basil – A Hammer
  • Moon Shine and Fanny Blossom – A Sword
  • Black Rose and Fanny Blossom – A Broom (which cannot be interacted with)
