Background

This quest will become available at the start of Act II, provided that you’ve already completed the quest Duty.

Walkthrough

When you talk to Sebastian in the Chantry, he’ll inform you that it was the Harimanns who hired the Flint mercenaries to eliminate his family. He’ll then ask you to accompany him to confront the Harimanns, and he’ll finally become available as a companion.

Inside the Harimann Estate (located in Hightown), you’ll quickly discover that something is amiss, as the front door (#1) will be wide open, the guards will be missing, and the Harimanns you meet (#2, #3, #7) will act oddly. Then when you reach the basement of the estate, you’ll get attacked by a desire demon (#10), and you’ll finally get a sense about what’s going on.

Eventually, at the end of the Underground Passage (reached via Exit A), you’ll encounter the desire demon Allure plus Lady Harimann (#15). No matter what you say to them, they’ll attack you, but two of your three responses to them can earn you friendship or rivalry points with your companions:

  • In your second response, if you say “Die fiend!” then you’ll gain friendship points with Anders, Aveline and Sebastian, and the battle will start up immediately. If you say “I do like power,” then you’ll gain rivalry points with Anders, Fenris and Varric. If you say “I wouldn’t betray my friends,” then you’ll gain friendship points with Anders.

  • In your third response, if you say “Die, fiend!” then you’ll gain friendship points with Aveline, Sebastian and Varric. If you say “That’s a good point,” then you’ll gain friendship points with Sebastian and Varric, and rivalry points with Aveline. If you say “Don’t listen to her,” then you’ll gain friendship points with Merrill and Varric, and rivalry points with Aveline and Sebastian.

After the battle, you’ll find Allure’s Crook on the remains of Allure.

When you exit the Underground Passage (via Exit B), you’ll run into Flora Harimann, and she’ll apologize for what happened. If you tell her “You were all victims,” then you’ll gain friendship points with Sebastian. Otherwise you’ll gain rivalry points.

Finally, when you return to the Chantry and talk to Sebastian, if you say “Listen to your heart,” then you’ll gain friendship points with him. Otherwise you’ll gain rivalry points. Regardless, Sebastian will reward you with 11 sovereigns and 1000 xp at the end of the quest.
