Last of an Ancient Line – Dungeon Siege III Main Quest

This guide provides a walkthrough for a Treasures of the Sun expansion main quest of Dungeon Siege III. Along with the walkthrough is a map and legend, which provides additional information.

Background

You have reason to believe that a famous Legion commander, Etienne du Marney, might still be alive in the Aranoi Desert. He could prove a valuable ally… if you can find him.

Walkthrough

Travel to the Aranoi Desert

You’ll need to travel through the Causeway Hub to reach the Aranoi Desert. If you started the DLC via an “endgame autosave” then you’ll begin in the hub. Otherwise, you’ll have to travel through the Causeway in the Grand Chapterhouse in Stonebridge City to get there. Once in the hub, you’ll find the Causeway to the Aranoi Desert on the western side.

Travel to the Abbey of St. Hiram

As you explore the desert, you’ll come under attack by skeletons, including a Skeletal Giant (#2). You’ll complete this objective when you reach the entrance to the abbey, located in the northern part of the desert (#7).

Talk to Sister Eleanor

When you enter the abbey courtyard, you’ll learn that Sister Eleanor would like to speak with you. You’ll find her inside the main abbey building (#11). When you talk to her there, she’ll inform you that du Marnay went into the vault beneath the abbey years ago, and never came back out, and that only Simeon, the abbey’s former abbot, knows how to open it up so you can go inside and find out what happened. Completing this conversation will also complete the quest, and earn you 1535 xp.


1 – Broken Pillar

Examining this pillar will trigger the side quest Fires of Faith.


2 – Skeletal Giant

The skeleton will drop a minor essence when it dies. You can get more essences by defeating other bosses in the campaign, or by transmuting equipment with certain bonuses (chaos: vampire, doom, retribution, stagger, and warding).


3 – Breakable Walls


4 – Shrine to Hathra’unok

This shrine is involved in the quest Fires of Faith.


5 – Warning Signs

Reading either of these signs will trigger the side quest What Lurks Beneath.


6 – Giant Sand Worm

The Giant Sand Worm is involved in the quest What Lurks Beneath.


7 – Abbey Entrance


8 – Sacred Pool

Entering the pool and paying 20,000 coins will allow you to re-spec your character.


9 – Wanted Posters

Reading these two posters will trigger the side quests Wanted: Mad Matias and Wanted: Professor Jabberhack.


10 – Sister Jenna

After talking to Sister Eleanor (#11), Sister Jenna will give you the side quest The Thief of Hearts.
