Oil and Blood – Dungeon Siege III Main Quest

This guide provides a walkthrough for a side quest of Dungeon Siege III. Along with the walkthrough is a map and legend, which provides additional information.

Background

One of the components you will need for the ritual is a flask of holy oil. This oil can only be obtained from a nearby cave.

Walkthrough

Travel to the Sandspring Cavern

You’ll complete this objective when you reach the entrance to the cavern (#2).

Retrieve the Holy Oil

You’ll find the Holy Oil at the southern tip of the cavern, at a sacred pool (#5). You’ll need to kill the nearby brood mother (#3) to access it. When you loot the Holy Oil, you’ll complete the quest and earn 1535 xp.


1 – Nadya

Nadya is a merchant. She’ll also give you the side quest Aberrant Eggs.


2 – Cavern Entrance

At the entrance to the cavern, you’ll find the corpse of Aridai, an old monk from the Abbey of St. Hiram. When you examine the corpse, you’ll gain the lore entry for Letter from Aridai.


3 – Unusual Eggs / Vodyanoi Brood Mothers

The eggs and brood mothers are involved in the quest Aberrant Eggs. One of the brood mothers will drop Lionblood Greaves when she dies.


4 – Book

Reading this book will give you the lore entry for Vodyanoi Malign Spirits of Water.


5 – Sacred Pool
