Background

You have decided to attack Jeyne Kassynder at her capital — the Spire of Azunai. But you’ll have to strike quickly, before she recovers from her loss at Glitterdelve. If you can kill or capture Jeyne, the war will be won.

Walkthrough

You’ll receive this quest from Odo in the Grand Chapterhouse in Stonebridge City after completing the main quests in Stonebridge City and the Glitterdelve Mine.

Address the Meisters

When you talk to the Meisters in the Meisterhall, they’ll agree to let you use their automatons as a distraction for Jeyne’s forces so you can infiltrate the Spire without facing a lot of resistance.

Return to the Meisters

When you’re ready for the assault to begin, let the Meisters know, and you’ll automatically travel to the Spire. You won’t be able to return to Stonebridge City or the Glitterdelve Mine once you’ve done this, so be sure to get all your shopping needs out of the way first.

Enter the Spire

When you reach the entrance to the Spire (#1), you’ll run into a pair of archons — one named Saraya plus either Rajani (if she survived your encounter in Raven’s Rill) or an anonymous one. Either way, you’ll learn that the only way to open the chancel gate (Exit A) is to kill the Archon of War (#7) and the Archon of Vengeance (#9).

Note: If you talk to Rajani with Anjali in your party, then Rajani will mention seeing Anjali die in the Mournweald, and she’ll speculate that Anjali was reborn, evidencing perhaps that the creator gods are still alive.

Defeat the Archon of War

You’ll find the Archon of War at the top of the West Turret (#7). Like Anjali, she’ll use Spinning Kicks and Hurled Spears, and as long as you can avoid them, you shouldn’t have too much trouble with her. When the Archon of War dies, she’ll drop Fallen Champion’s Mail (if you’re playing Lucas), Orbis Bellum (if you’re playing Reinhart), or Storm of Lead (if you’re playing Katarina), plus some random “blue” items.

Defeat the Archon of Vengeance

You’ll find the Archon of Vengeance at the top of the East Turret (#9). She’ll summon jackals and use some fire spells against you, but she won’t move much, and so abilities like Aura of Immolation and Geometry of Annihilation will eat her up. When the archon dies, she’ll drop Avenger’s Robes (if you’re playing Reinhart), Hail of Lead (if you’re playing Katarina), Illumination of Vengeance (if you’re playing Anjali), or Riposte of Tempered Steel (if you’re playing Lucas), plus some random “blue” items.

Note: After defeating one of the archons, you’ll start encountering cyclopes in the Spire Bailey. After defeating both archons, you’ll start encountering pairs of cyclopes. These cyclopes are not a good way to grind xp. After defeating them the first time for about 600 xp each, you’ll get 0 xp every time you defeat them after that.

Face Jeyne Kassynder in the Chancel

When you encounter Jeyne in the chancel (#11), you won’t be allowed to fight her. Instead, you’ll have to battle three of her champions — two Cyclops Brutes plus an archon, either Rajani, Saraya or Chakti depending on what happened in Raven’s Rill and at the entrance to the Spire (#1) — all while dodging Jeyne’s spells and killing endless waves of her soldiers. Once the three champions have been defeated, Jeyne will flee to the next room, and you’ll find Absolution (if you fought Chakti), Heaven’s Judgment (if you fought Rajani), or a Vorpal Glaive (if you fought Saraya), plus probably a lot more.

Face Jeyne Kassynder in the Sanctum

In this battle (#12), you’ll face off against Jeyne and a pair of her archon handmaids. You won’t be able to kill Jeyne here; once you’ve done enough damage to her she’ll flee again. If you can remove Jeyne before killing her handmaids, then you’ll earn the “Moment of Solace” achievement. After the battle, you’ll find a Ferro-Mag Dynamo and a Spiritwalker Barrette when you loot the items on the floor.

Defeat Jeyne Kassynder

You’ll finally get to duel Jeyne alone at the top of the Spire (#13). She’ll spend as much time teleporting around as she will trying to kill you, and so she shouldn’t be too difficult to defeat. Just start dodging if she hurts you too much. Once you’ve done enough damage to Jeyne, she’ll flee to the Mournweald, and you’ll earn 4808 xp.

Note: After the battle, Marten and Saraya will show up (even if you killed Saraya in the Sanctum of Fire), and if Saraya is an enemy, then you’ll have to decide what to do with her. As far as we can tell, this decision won’t change anything.
