Background

Years ago, Etienne du Marnay entered the vault beneath the abbey… and was never seen again. Now that you’ve opened the door to the vault, you can go inside and find the missing legionnaire.

Walkthrough

Search the Vault

For this objective you’ll have to explore nearly all of the vault, but eventually you’ll come to a locked door that will require you to find two staves to open (#16).

Find the Two Staves

You’ll find the staves in two nearby rooms (#18), but to enter the rooms you’ll have to pull a lever guarded by Priestguard Onesimus (#17). Onesimus will summon lots of skeletons and flying swords to help him out, so while the battle shouldn’t be too difficult, it might take you a while to complete it just because of all of the stuff that will keep getting in your way. When Onesimus dies, he’ll drop Armor of the High Defender.

Retrieve the Staff of the Sun / Retrieve the Staff of the Moon

To pick up the staves (#18), you’ll have to defeat some more mummies and skeletons.

Use the Two Staves

To open the locked door (#16), you’ll need to place the two staves in the pedestals beside it.

Find Etienne du Marnay

Past the locked door (#16), you’ll run into High Priest Molochi (#19). He’ll cast spells, he’ll teleport around, he’ll summon skeletons to help him out — and he’ll resurrect himself once, forcing you to kill him twice. The first battle against the priest shouldn’t be too bad, but in the second battle he’ll hit harder and he’ll summon skeleton mages along with the other skeletons. We’d recommend that you take out the skeleton mages right away, and then do whatever damage you can to Molochi and the other skeletons. When Molochi dies, he won’t drop anything, but in a nearby chest you’ll find a unique item depending on the character that you’re playing — Elishevan Shift (Katarina), Golden Plate of Radiance (Lucas), Lightbringer (Reinhart), or Xerian Warspear (Anjali) — plus some random “blue” items and an essence.

Finally, at the end of the vault, you’ll meet up with the Lamasu (aka “the greatest treasure of the faith”), and you’ll find the remains of du Marnay (#20). The Lamasu will reveal that it is an oracle, and that its sight is so keen that the Azunite priests in the area began worshiping it rather than Azunai. It will also inform you that Sister Eleanor is du Marnay’s daughter, and that while she will lead a productive life no matter what, in one possible path she’ll join the Legion but die early, and in the other she’ll stay with the Church. You’ll then have to decide which path she should follow.

Note: At the end of the conversation, the Lamasu will offer to teleport you back to the Abbey of St. Hiram. Before accepting this gift, you should loot du Marnay’s corpse for the Du Marnay Signet.

Return to Sister Eleanor

When you return to Sister Eleanor in the abbey, you’ll have to decide how to influence her:

  • If you convince her to join the Legion, then you’ll gain the True to Legion Blood deed (+25 attack).

  • If you allow her to stay with the Church, then you’ll gain the A Voice for Change deed (+25 will).

Either way, you’ll also earn 1535 xp.

Note: To quickly leave the DLC, you can interact with an altar near Sister Eleanor. It will take you back to the Causeway in the Aranoi Desert.
