Two New Elden Ring Classes Revealed

A tweet from the official Elden Ring twitter account has just unveiled two more of the starting classes for Elden Ring. We got to see five of the starting classes during the Network test, but some of the standard class types from previous Souls games seemed absent. Today’s tweet shows off the Vagabond and the Hero, which both appear to have Dark Souls analogs.

The Vagabond is described as “solid” and “armor-clad”, which makes him sound very similar to the Knight class — the high-health, beginner-friendly pick that’s been around since Demon Souls. The Hero also bears a striking resemblance to the aggressive melee pick the Bandit from Dark Souls 1, though she lacks the shield. The Bandit was absent in Dark Souls 2 before reappearing in DS3 as the Warrior, albeit with more armor.

Interestingly, the Vagabond appears to be wielding a greatsword. If this is indeed the case, it will be the first time a starting class had access to such a large weapon. Greatswords are slow but powerful, and it makes sense that in previous titles they weren’t starting weapons — their lack of speed makes the user vulnerable, and the games tend to be punishing enough for new players as it is.

With any luck, this will be the start of a series of class reveals, and we’ll get a chance to check out the remaining three playable classes before Elden Ring releases on February 25th.
