Overview

1 – Obelisk

Activate this obelisk to add Blackwater to your Quick Travel menu.

2 – Front Gates

When you first arrive at Blackwater, you’ll find that the front gates are locked. Worse, the guards will demand a one-time payment of 100 gp before they’ll allow you to go inside. If you don’t want to pay the guards, then your only other option is to kill them (they’re easier than Berrea Mercenaries) and pull the lever by the southern gate. The guards are worth 250 xp (unless you kill them by closing a gate on them, which will only net you 25 xp), so you might want to kill them regardless.

3 – House

If you activate the urn in the front room of this house, then a secret door will open, giving you access to the back room. In the back room you’ll find a cabinet containing Burglar’s Leather Gloves, Embrace the Night, a Thin Key, and 150 gp.

4 – Temple

Inside the temple you’ll meet Jonathon, who will train you in Divination magic.

5 – Well

Each time you drink from the well you’ll gain +4 Hit Points.

6 – The Lonely Spirits Tavern

Inside the tavern, you’ll meet two people of interest:

  • Eeru, the owner. He’ll rent you a room for 30 gp (or 50 gp if you refuse to give him your name), and he’ll also sell you some miscellaneous items, including Lock Picks and skill books. After reading the Bloodstained Note (#13), you’ll be able to tell Eeru that your name is “Foozgrumph,” which will give you access to the special back room of the tavern. While in that back room, if you move through the illusory wall to the north, then you’ll be able to make your way to The Underground Repository (Exit A).

Note: To exit the back room, you’ll need to pull the lever inside of it.

7 – Blackwater Council House

Inside the council house you’ll meet William, the council head. He’ll give you a side quest.

8 – The Glowing Anvil

Inside this shop, you’ll meet Gunther. He’ll sell you weapons and armor, and he’ll give you a side quest. He’s also involved in Erik’s side quest from Bordertown.

9 – The Enchanter’s Philosophy

Inside this shop you’ll meet Vekkar, who will sell you spells, potions, jewelry and more. He’ll also give you a side quest.

10 – Blackwater Guild of Magicks

Inside this shop you’ll meet Siam, who will sell you spells, potions, jewelry and more. He’ll also train you in Elemental magic.

11 – Penelope’s House

Inside this house you’ll meet Penelope, a struggling seamstress. She’s involved in a side quest (so don’t kill her to loot the 40 gp in her chest), and she’ll let you know that a “horrible stench” is coming from the building across the street (#13).

12 – Back Gate

There isn’t any way to open the back gate.

13 – Rooms

There are two rooms in this building:

  • The door to the left room is trapped and locked, and it can only be opened by picking the lock. Inside you’ll find a random chest.

14 – Sonya’s House of Pain

This building belongs to Sonya, who will train you in Bludgeoning Weapons, Cleaving Weapons, and Swords. If you loot the chest in the building, then you’ll find an Adamantine Great Helm.

15 – Bandit Camp

Inside this camp you’ll encounter several Thugs and Berrea Mercenaries. You’ll also find a treasure chest containing Bandages, a Mercenary’s Note, and 150 gp. The note is a part of William’s side quest (#7).

16 – Treasure Chest

To reach this treasure chest, you’ll need to blow up the nearby explosives barrel, which will clear a route through the mountains. Inside the chest you’ll find 120 gp.

$ – Random Treasure Chest

Local Exits

A – Entrance to The Underground Repository

B – Portal to Rotwood

You won’t be able to reach this portal initially. However, after using the portal to travel from Rotwood to the Blackwater Region, you’ll be able to pull a lever next to the portal, which will blow open a path to it.
