Background

You’ll receive this quest from Oolaseph the talking tree in the Northern Tangletree Forest.

Walkthrough

Oolaseph (#1) will tell you that he’s worried about the goblins, and that he’s willing to give you a gift to help you fight against them — but only if you can prove yourself worthy. To that end, Oolaseph will inform you that the goblins are guarding a source of pure water in Northern Crakamir, and he’ll ask you to bring him a sample from it.

The easiest way to reach the Crakamir Desert is to go through the main gate in Northeastern Crakamir. For this approach you’ll need the Gate Key, which you can pick up in Darkford during Paul’s side quest. You can also enter Crakamir via the Tangletree Ossuary in the Western Salted Coast, or via the portal in Father Michael’s house in the Barrier Range Region.

In Northern Crakamir, you’ll find a well guarded by Tauraxes in the center of the map (#2). When you click on the (trapped) well you’ll receive Purest Water, which is a potion. You’ll then have two ways to proceed:

  • If you drink the Purest Water, then you’ll gain two skill points but fail the quest.
  • If you deliver the Purest Water to Oolaseph, then you’ll earn 1000 xp, and Oolaseph will tell you the numeric code — 98 — for opening Lorus’ sarcophagus (#3) in the Tangletree Ossuary. Your quest journal will note this code for you, so there isn’t any need to write it down. When you eventually loot the sarcophagus, you’ll earn an additional 1500 xp, plus find the Recurved Composite Great Bow, the best bow in the game.
