Background

You’ll trigger this quest at the end of Father Michael’s side quest to deliver a potion to Paul in the Eastern Salted Coast.

Walkthrough

Paul (#1) will tell you that Father Michael is in league with the goblins, and that he’s trying to help them build a portal so they can invade the region. To prove this, he’ll give you an Incriminating Letter, and he’ll ask you to deliver it to Captain Morgan in Darkford (located in the Barrier Range Region next to Bordertown).

At Darkford (#2), you’ll run into a guard at the entrance. To get past him, you’ll have to tell him about the letter and then threaten him (if you just give him the letter then you’ll essentially fail the quest). Once inside, you won’t be able to go anywhere except for Captain Morgan’s office, and when you hand over the letter you’ll earn 400 xp. If you demand that the captain do something immediately, then he’ll give you an extra 50 gp. Nothing will happen to Father Michael.

Note: While you’re in the Barrier Range Region, you might want to visit Father Michael’s country house (#3), where he’s been constructing the portal. If you read the Incriminating Letter, then you’ll learn that the final two ingredients for the portal are Ectoplasm and Mercury. If you add these two ingredients to the alembic right next to the portal in the basement of the house, then you’ll complete the portal ritual, and the portal will start taking you to Rotwood.
