Overview

1 – Starting House

This is where you’ll begin the game. Inside the chest here you’ll find an Iron Dagger and a Sealed Note. Inside the barrel in the garden you’ll find two Torches. Inside the hollow stump by the well you’ll find two Healing Elixirs I, two Mana Potions I, Leather Sandals, and a weapon appropriate for your character.

2 – Ruined House

With the Spot Hidden skill you can detect a hidden cache behind a brick on the eastern wall. Inside you’ll find a Small Emerald and a Small Ruby.

3 – Ruined House

Inside this house you’ll find a coffin containing a Ring of Vigor and a locked chest containing a Torn Page, Sulfur, and Willow Sap. The note will tell you the recipe for Healing Elixirs.

4 – Three Containers

Near this spot you’ll find a barrel containing ingredients, plus a corpse and a locked chest with random contents.

5 – The Minotaur Inn

You’ll discover some useful things in and around the inn. By the back door you’ll find a sealed barrel containing ingredients. In the backyard you’ll find a well that will restore 1 Hit Point each time you drink from it. On the ground floor you’ll find a random chest. On the upper floor you’ll come to a locked bedroom. If you manage to get inside, then you’ll find a cabinet with random loot plus a locked and trapped chest containing an Easter Egg (literally) and 80 gp. See our Easter Eggs guide for more information about the Easter Egg.

6 – Ruined House

Inside one of the “closets” in this house, you’ll find a chest containing 40 gp.

7 – Magickal Platform

The platform isn’t used for anything in the game. Possibly, it was the site of the portal the orakur used to attack the city of Elderhollow.

8 – Town Sign

Activate this sign to add Aridell to your Quick Travel menu.

9 – Locked Rooms

To enter the locked rooms, you’ll need to pick the locks on the doors — which would be easy enough except for the patrolling guard outside. To enter the rooms without the guard noticing, you’ll need some skill in Hide in Shadows, you’ll need to wait for nighttime, and you’ll need to take away the nearby Torch to darken the area. If the guard sees you picking one of the locks, then he’ll attack you, and he’ll probably kill you easily, at least early in the game.

Inside the rooms, you’ll discover two cabinets. One will have an Empty Flask and some ingredients inside. The other will have random loot. The cabinets are convenient places to store items that you don’t need to carry with you all the time.

10 – Council House

Inside the council house, you’ll meet Eleanor Mistlepine, the Council Head. She’ll give you some background information, and she’ll allow you to loot A History of Thaermore from a nearby cabinet. Outside the council house, if you break open a barrel, then you’ll find some ingredients inside.

11 – Bethel of the Green Moon

Inside the bethel (a chapel for seamen), you’ll meet Father Michael. He’ll provide healing services for you (provided you’re not an Atheist or Nefarious), and he’ll also give you a side quest.

12 – Maddock’s House

You’ll need to meet with Maddock for the main quest Maddock.

13 – The Owl’s Roost Tavern

Inside the tavern, you’ll meet two people of interest. Porter the owner will sell you some utility items, including a Map of Thaermore and Lock Picks. Meanwhile, the sailor Garrett will give you a side quest.

14 – Grand Magicks Emporium

Inside the shop, you’ll meet Abygale. She’ll sell you scrolls, potions and ingredients, and she’ll give you a side quest. To rob the chest in the back room, you should circle around to the back door and pick the lock. Then you’ll be able to pick open the lock on the chest without anybody seeing (Abygale will probably hear you, but that doesn’t matter). Inside the chest you’ll find a Healing Elixir II, Invisibility II, a Mana Potion II, and a Potion of Ogre Strength.

15 – The Wayward Blacksmithe

Inside the shop, you’ll meet Farwick. He’ll sell you weapons and armor, and he’ll give you a side quest. Inside the locked chest in the main room you’ll find a Potion of Ogre Strength and an Iron Warhammer. The lever behind the chest won’t do anything, so don’t bother bashing the chest to get to it.

Note: The front counter of the shop will block Farwick’s sight. That means if you’re on one side of it and Farwick on the other, then you’ll be able to pick open the chest without Farwick attacking you (he’ll hear the crime, but that doesn’t matter).
