Background

You’ll receive this quest from Leisle in Rockhammer (#1).

Walkthrough

When you ask Leisle about work, she’ll inform you that Logi, the foreman of the Rockhammer Mine, has a tab of 300 gp that he doesn’t seem inclined to pay. So she’ll ask you to collect the debt from him, and she’ll promise you a third of it as your reward.

The Rockhammer Mine is located to the southeast of Rockhammer (Exit A). You’ll find Logi in roughly the middle of Level 1 (#2). However, when you talk to him, he’ll complain that he can’t pay anything while the mine is infested with bugs — and then he’ll get an idea to solve everybody’s problem. Logi will make you a deal: if you clear out the Cave Scorpions from the southeastern part of the mine, then he’ll pay you the money he owes. If you accept this deal — and you don’t really have a choice — then you’ll trigger the side quest A Deal with Logi.

After dispatching the Cave Scorpions, Logi will pay you the 300 gp he owes. Then when you return to Leisle, you’ll be given a choice for what to tell her. If you lie and say that Logi refused to pay, then you’ll fail the quest but get to keep all 300 gp. If you tell the truth and hand over the money, then Leisle will reward you with 100 gp and 400 xp — and she’ll also become a trainer for Lore, Mercantile, and Pick Locks. Clearly, the best option is to tell the truth.
