The Colosseum – Fable II

This guide will help you complete The Colosseum quest in the See The Future DLC for Fable II.

So you’ve seen The Vision, and now have a firm understanding that Theresa is the one leaving these items for you with Murgo. As it turns out, she’s left one more for you – a Colosseum Model. By now, you know the drill. Simply activate the item from your inventory and you’ll be teleported to the foreign destination.

According to the welcoming letter you receive, the Colosseum was built by the Theodore triplets. Your purpose here is to score as many points as you can by slaying all the enemies within a set period of time. Each flitswitch (floating target) you strike increases your multiplier by 1, so you’ll want to track them down to significantly adjust your score intake. Kicking chickens earns you bonus points, too.

Be careful, though. Once a battle begins, you’re not allowed to use potions or change around any of your equipment. Getting knocked down resets your multiplier, so stay on your feet as best you can. If you have the Knothole Island add-on, I highly recommend wielding a four-slot Master Katana or equivalent rifle with damage increasing, damage absorbing, and life leeching augments. This will ensure that you can hack through the spawning enemies quickly without taking any significant damage.

Got it? Good. There are four prizes to be earned here, depending on the score you wind up with at the end of the round. 15,000 points gets you the “ultimate prize”, 10,000 points gets you 1st prize, 5000 points gets you 2nd prize, and 2500 points gets you 3rd prize. You can only win the “ultimate prize” (a four-slot melee weapon called the Royal Sceptre) once, but the other three are seemingly infinite so you may want to return to the arena on numerous occasions maximize your loot acquisition. You can also make an effort to earn a few extra achievements in here by obtaining 20,000 points, killing the necromancer who spawns after you’ve cleared out the hollow men and spire guards, kicking five chickens with the Chicken Suit equipped, and raising your multiplier to 10x.

In any event, the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prizes are totally random, but for the sake of reference, here is what I received after my first two Colosseum rounds:

There are also three “Teddies” that you can acquire within the Colosseum. The first is easy enough – simply light the candelabras with a fireball spell at the opposite end of the room from the entrance and you’ll open the door to the King Teddy. The second can be acquired by shooting the demonic statue in the path of the telescope on the right side of the chamber. Do so and the Wizard Teddy is yours.

The third bear is considerably trickier. Activate the pedestal on the left side of the chamber and you’ll be told to “achieve the magic score”, after which you should “join together my brothers’ digits to activate the final widget”. Hmm. So what’s the magic score? As it turns out, it’s 1985 (the four numbers sewn into the other two bears give it away). Not 1984 or 1986, but exactly 1985. Reaching an exact number in an arena filled with creatures offering different point rewards is nothing short of ridiculous, but it can be done. And because multipliers will increase the score you gain from each enemy killed, basic mathematics tell us that it’s easiest to hit an exact number when your multiplier is at 1x. The best advice I can give you is to pay attention to your score at all times, keep a tally of what each enemy type is worth, and save the game once you’re within a couple hundred points so you can keep trying different combinations of enemies. Should you manage to hit 1985, you’ll be pocketing the Captain Teddy.

fable ii the colosseum quest 4

Upon acquiring all three Theodore bears, you’ll be notified that you’ve earned the Colosseum’s special prizes: a bottle of Mystical Juice, a Strawberry Blonde Hair Dye, and the “AAA” Teddy Trophy. If you’ve been following our walkthrough from the beginning, you should now have all of Murgo’s hidden dyes and will earn The Colourist achievement as a result.
