Gameplay Tips – Fallout Tactics

If you have squad members without traits, you can use the Mutate perk to give them a trait.

It’s useful to Mutate your squad members so that they receive the Gifted or Fast Shot traits.

If you place items into containers, then the items won’t disappear when you leave the map area (unlike items left on corpses, which will probably disappear along with the corpses).

There is no time limit in the game, so you can wander around the wastelands for as long as you’d like.

You don’t have to select a perk when you earn one. For example, if you don’t like any of the level 3 perks, you can wait until you reach level 6, and then select two perks.

Drugs don’t have any weight, so they work well as alternative forms of cash.

You get more money selling an item if the shopkeeper you’re dealing with doesn’t have any of the item in stock. So try to spread your shopping around.

Vehicles in the game don’t use up any form of energy. They drive for free.

If you drive a vehicle to a mission, it won’t show up on the mission map. But when you leave the mission, you’ll get the vehicle back.

You should use both weapon slots of your squad members. There isn’t any cost to switch between the two, and you can use one for long-range attacks and the other for low-range or melee attacks. For example, at the start of the game you might put a Hunting Rifle in one slot and a Pump-Action Shotgun in the other.

Clicking on a squad member’s interface tab is identical to clicking on the character.

For some special encounters, if you leave and then return, you won’t be able to leave again (the exit grid won’t work). So any time you find a special encounter, save first, then do whatever you can do there, and then leave.
