Experience & Level-Up Guide – Fallout

Welcome to our Fallout experience & level-up guide!

In this guide we’ll show you an experience table followed by the hit points, skill points, and perks gained with each level — that is, everything you should know about when planning out your character. We’ll also show all of the in-game graphics from the miscellaneous tabs of the character screen.

Experience

Experience (xp) in Fallout is gained at the same rate as in the D&D 3rd Edition ruleset. You begin at level 1, you earn 1000 xp to reach level 2, and then you earn 2000 xp more for level 3, 3000 xp more for level 4, and so on until the game’s maximum level of 21. This is shown in the table below, along with the character title for each level.

Hit Points

When you create your character, you begin with 15 + (2 x Endurance) + Strength hit points. Then each time you gain a level, you add 2 + (Endurance / 2) hit points. The latter amount is summarized in the table below.

Skill Points

When you create your character, you don’t begin with any skill points, but you are allowed to Tag three skills. Tagged skills gain 20% right away, and then every time you add a skill point to them, they gain 2% instead of 1% for regular skills.

When you gain a level, you receive 5 + (2 x Intelligence) skill points. If you select the Gifted trait, then you lose 5 skill points per level. This is summarized in the table below.
