Vault 15 – Fallout Location

In this guide we’ll show you everything there is to know about the rat-infested ruins of Vault 15.

Introduction

Before traveling to Vault 15 the first time, be sure to stop by Shady Sands and pick up a Rope. You’ll need it to descend to the lower levels of the vault.

Vault 15 Areas

  • Cave Entrance: where you encounter the giant hole in the ground
  • Caverns: part of a cave & 1st level of the vault
  • Living Quarters: 2nd level of the vault
  • Command Center: 3rd level of the vault

All of these levels are filled with rats — over fifty throughout the vault, including lesser and greater mole rats. Search carefully while exploring the levels and you’ll come out with some decent loot, including a First Aid Kit and four Stimpaks (inside a wall locker by the bed in the Caverns), a Hunting Rifle (on the floor of the southwestern bathroom in the Living Quarters), a Leather Jacket (inside a locker in the Living Quarters), Dynamite and two Grenades (inside a locker in the Command Center), a 10mm SMG (inside a different locker in the Command Center), a Crowbar (on the floor by the caved-in doorway in the Command Center), and a First Aid Book (on the floor by a computer in the Command Center).

To travel between the levels, you’ll need to use a Rope with the elevator shafts. You’ll have to bring a Rope with you to descend to the Living Quarters, and then you’ll find another Rope there (inside the locker with the Leather Jacket), which will allow you to descend to the Command Center.

Your goal and only quest in Vault 15 is to determine that in fact there is no water chip to be found there. You can do this by making your way down to the Command Center and searching the room in the southeastern corner. Beware of the greater mole rat who wanders nearby. When you spot the caved-in doorway, you’ll realize that your search is hopeless, and you’ll earn 500xp.
