WB Games Job Listings Suggest Early 2022 Release Date for Hogwarts Legacy

On February 8th, Warner Bros. Games posted two open positions on their careers website, and one of them specifically mentions job duties involving Hogwarts Legacy. WB Games are looking for a Submissions Specialist, which is a role that involves getting games submitted to the various platforms for release. The other posting is for a marketing position, and job responsibilities would include marketing for Gotham Knights and Hogwarts Legacy. We have James Sigfield on Twitter to thank for spotting this interesting bit of news.

This is far from definitive proof of a release date, but given that we’re still in early 2021, it would be strangefor WB Games to start hiring for submission and marketing positions if Hogwarts Legacy wasn’t coming out for awhile. The only other major upcoming releases from WB Games are Lego Starwars: The Skywalker Saga, Back 4 Blood, and Gotham Knights. The Lego game and Back 4 Blood are both set to release within the next 5 months, so it’s doubtful WB Games is hiring to fill positions relevant to those games at such a late date. Therefore, the most likely reason for the job postings are because they are hiring for people to work on releasing Hogwarts Legacy and Gotham Knights.

WB Games announced back in January of this year that Hogwarts Legacy would be delayed until 2022, which is another piece of evidence for an early 2022 release date. If the delay announcement had come in late 2021 instead, it wouldn’t be unreasonable to expect the release to come Q3 or Q4 of the following year. But a January delay announcement means they’ve already given themselves at least a whole year to continue work on the game, and it could very well be finished early next year. As we previously discussed on MuggleStudies, the delay might also allow the game to move to the new Unreal 5 engine, which would make for a visually stunning Hogwarts.

Hopefully, once WB Games hires their new Associate Manager of Brand Marketing, we’ll finally get some new information on Hogwarts Legacy! With the exception of the delay, we’ve heard nothing official about the game since the initial announcement trailer. We’ll let you know if we hear anything, but until then, you’ll just have to keep re-reading the books (or re-watching the movies).
