Prospect Notes

This is one of the easier prospects in the game. All you have to do is make your way to each crash site, arm the warhead, and then either hide from the predator that spawns, or else build a ladder atop the satellite and kill it from safety. Then, you can remove the warhead and proceed to your next objective. The only difficult part is getting into the Arctic, but as long as you’re willing to move carefully the Polar Bears aren’t a serious threat.

The three crash sites are circled in red.

There isn’t really a loop you can do here, but you can still save some time by going to the northern crash site first, then tackling the other two in any order you like.

Preparing for BROKEN ARROW

You can theoretically complete this mission without crafting anything. That being said, you’ll likely want to have the following blueprints available:

Because this mission mostly just involves running from crash site to crash site, the Mass Dampener Module can be used to speed up your hiking significantly. Bringing a Canteen is also a good idea, since it will save you from having to collect Berries.

Mission Walkthrough

Step 1: Crash Site Omega

You’ll land in the forest, southwest of the nearest objective. Make your way northeast to the crash site on the L-11/M-11 border, collecting resources as you go. Craft a bow and arrows, a knife, and Cloth Armor once you have the materials. It’s also a good idea to do a little hunting, and then craft a Campfire and get some food cookin’. If you want to kill the boss creatures that spawn, also start crafting Bone Arrows as you kill animals.

It’s low-level wolves and bears around here, so unless you’re a new player, feel free to sprint to the objective. If you are just learning the game, try to go slow, and make sure you move through the forest in such a way that you can see any predators before they see you. Once you’re at the satellite, craft a ladder, then walk up the broken stair-looking pieces on the northern side of the satellite. Place a ladder wherever you can atop the satellite:

You should be able to press F while aiming at it to teleport up to the ladder; if it’s really high up, you might need to jump to reach it. Make sure you can get to the ladder, and practice climbing up it and standing on the top of the ladder — make sure you don’t input any movement commands once you start climbing the final rungs, and you should end up on top of the ladder. When you’re ready, hop down and go to the glowing red panel, and arm the warhead by pressing [F]:

Then run back to your ladder and climb up it. A boss predator will spawn, and you can take it down from the safety of your perch. After a minute or so, the panel will glow green instead of red, and you’ll then be able to remove the Bio-warhead. Despite Sol’s warning, you can drop or destroy the warhead at this point with no consequences. You don’t even have to carry it with you; once you’ve removed it from the satellite you’ve done all you need to do. Just make sure the objective gets marked complete on your HUD once you pull the warhead out of the satellite’s inventory.

Step 2: Crash Sites Chi & Psi

We’ll do the Arctic crash site last, so head southwest past your dropship and continue on to H-14. The wolves in this area will be slightly higher level, so stick to the edges of the valley whenever possible: the open areas next to the mountains are safer, since trees limit visibility. Make your way to the downed satellite, replenishing your Bone Arrow supply as you do so. Once at the satellite, do just like before: place a ladder on top of the satellite, arm the warhead, then run to your ladder. This boss doesn’t always spawn, but if it does, you’ll be ready.

Now there’s just one more warhead to find! Head back east, to the Arctic pass in the bottom right of K-13. Before you enter the Arctic, craft an Axe if you haven’t already, and then collect enough wood and other materials to craft a 1×1 Portable Shelter plus a Repair Hammer and a Campfire; you’ll need a shelter in case a storm comes while you’re in the Arctic. If you do set up your shelter during a snowstorm, pay attention to your ceiling — if it forms cracks, press [Y] to remove it, then replace it (you may have to repair it before you can pick it up).

A Polar Bear spawns up the hill near the start of L-14, so move slowly and carefully until you’ve entered the Arctic. There are other Polar Bear spawns in the Arctic, so while you can move more quickly once you have the open visibility of the Arctic, pay attention to your surroundings as you head further east.

The Polar Bear that spawns in L-14 can be very hard to spot, so go slow and keep your eyes peeled

Continue southeast to the final crash site in N-15. If you don’t have a lot of arrows (at least ~40) you can instead hide a fair distance away after arming the warhead, then sneak past the boss and grab it once it’s ready. Either way, arm the warhead, hide or jump on your ladder, then remove the warhead once it’s done arming.

Note that brave Prospectors can do this with less arrows, since you can usually remove them from the bear even while it’s still alive.

I almost feel bad for them… Almost.

Once that’s finished, all your objectives should now be completed, and you can head back to your dropship.
