Preparing for Travel Walkthrough

Reward: your pet dragon.

You get to choose a pet dragon that fights with you the entire game.

1 – Castle of King Frederick

Speak with King Frederick in the castle, then outside with Captain Bogard. He’ll send you through the gate to the nearby farm at #2 to select a dragon.

2 – Dragon Farm

Each dragon comes with a special ability, so choose which one you think might suit your play style. If you’re having trouble I would recommend the green dragon with +1 intellect and the “treasure searcher” ability. By using this during combat you can bring up chests in every fight and score more gold and occasionally runes. That ability will eventually come with other dragons, but it’s a good early game boost, especially on higher difficulty levels. Considering however the increase will be with you the entire game, you might find another that suits you better. When you’re finished, return to Bogard, then to Frederick for your main quest.
