Feros: Thorian Lair Overview

1 – Arrival

You technically arrive on the second level of the Thorian’s lair, where you’ll receive any Paragon or Renegade points due to you for saving or killing the sixteen Zhu’s Hope colonists. Every colonist still alive will net you two Paragon points, while every colonist that was killed will net you two Renegade points. You’ll always receive a total of 32 points, but the distribution will change depending on how many you spared.

To continue on, descend the stairs toward the first floor.

2 – The Thorian

The enormous fleshy creature before you is the Thorian. When you approach it, it spits out an Asari Clone and you’ll begin a dialogue session that can earn you a couple of Paragon or Renegade points (depending on your stance). Toward the end, the green-skinned female mentions that Saren came before you and that the “Old Growth” is no longer interested in talking. Your only option to save the colonists of Zhu’s Hope is to fight.

With that, the Asari Clone attacks along with the help of several Thorian Creepers that were previously lying dormant in the area. Take them all down, then head north to begin searching for a way to destroy the Thorian.

3 – Thorian Neural Node #1

This is the first of six neural nodes that you must destroy to break the Thorian’s grip on the walls surrounding it.

4 – Asari Clone and Thorian Creepers

Expect to face-off against another Asari Clone and several Thorian Creepers as soon as you reach the lair’s second level.

5 – Weapon Locker

Decrypt the weapon locker set into this wall to nab some more items.

6 – Thorian Creepers

Several more Thorian Creepers guard the node to the north.

7 – Thorian Neural Node #2

This is the second of six neural nodes that you must destroy to break the Thorian’s grip on the walls surrounding it.

8 – Asari Clone and Thorian Creepers

Having ascended to the third level, you’ll be pitted against another Asari Clone and more Thorin Creepers.

9 – Thorian Creepers

More of the bile-spitting Thorian Creepers await you in this chamber.

10 – Thorian Neural Node #3

This is the third of six neural nodes that you must destroy to break the Thorian’s grip on the walls surrounding it.

11 – Asari Clone and Thorian Creepers

Yet another Asari Clone and more of the Thorian’s loyal servants inhabit this area.

12 – Medical Station

Decrypt and loot.

13 – Thorian Creepers

More of the Thorian Creepers guard this node chamber.

14 – Thorian Neural Node #4

This is the fourth of six neural nodes that you must destroy to break the Thorian’s grip on the walls surrounding it.

15 – Asari Clone and Thorian Creepers

The fourth level of the Thorian lair is guarded by another Asari Clone and several Thorian Creepers.

16 – Thorian Neural Node #5

This is the fifth of six neural nodes that you must destroy to break the Thorian’s grip on the walls surrounding it.

17 – Asari Clone and Thorian Creepers

An Asari Clone-led group of Thorian Creepers welcomes you to the Thorian lair’s fifth floor.

18 – Asari Clone and Thorian Creepers

One last group of the Thorian’s minions stands between you and the final neural node.

19 – Thorian Neural Node #6

This is the sixth and final neural node that you must destroy to break the Thorian’s grip on the walls surrounding it. When this node is severed, the Thorian falls into the large pit below its perch where it will (presumably) never be seen again.

With the Thorian defeated, the original Asari breaks free from the cocoon-like enclosure hanging on the wall. She introduces herself as Shiala and thanks you for releasing her before explaining why she and Matriarch Benezia both allied themselves with Saren. According to her story, Saren’s ship, Sovereign, allows him to dominate the minds of his followers in what she calls “the indoctrination.”

She goes on to tell you that Saren used her to get the Cipher or, in plain terms, the ancestral memories of the Protheans from the ancient Thorian. With the Cipher, a non-Prothean can understand the visions etched into their beacons. Since you need this information as well, you’ll have to allow the Asari to “open your mind to the universe” and grant you the knowledge of the Cipher. Doing so prompts another showing of the visions you had on Eden Prime, only this time you see a network of planets toward the end.

Once you have the Cipher and have investigated all five subjects available during dialogue, you’ll need to decide Shiala’s fate. If you choose to let her stay here and help the colonists, you’ll gain Paragon points. If you instead choose to kill her, you’ll gain Renegade points. Either way, you’ll be brought back to Zhu’s Hope with a nice experience reward and two new codex entries – Asari: Military Doctrine and Sovereign.

With Feros complete, you can pay a fifth visit to the Normandy.
