Kaidan is human just as Shepard and Ashley are, though exposure to Element Zero during his mother’s pregnancy has left him with an affinity toward biotics.

Kaidan is immediately part of your squad joins your descent to Eden Prime’s surface at the beginning of the game. Because he is a Sentinel, Kaidan makes a good choice as a member of your squad if you’re looking for extra support from both tech and biotic talents. He is also one of two possible romance options if you’re playing a female Commander Shepard.
