Luna Overview

Luna is located in the Sol system of the Local cluster, which won’t show up on your Galaxy Map until you’ve reached level 20 and have received the “UNC: Rogue VI” assignment from Alliance Command’s Admiral Hackett.

1 – Arrival

Your drop from the Normandy will land you in this vicinity. Take a few moments to gaze at the Earth, then begin the trek toward the west/southwest.

2 – CCCP Luna 23

Salvage this crashed probe for a couple of item upgrades.

3 – Alliance Training Grounds

These are the Alliance training grounds Admiral Hackett mentioned when he gave you the “UNC: Rogue VI” assignment. The VI has taken control of the six Alliance Heavy Turrets that sit atop the three stations here, so you’re going to have to deal with them before exploring the bunkers. Once all six are destroyed, head inside any of the three buildings to begin your investigation.

The first room in each Science Station contains a Secure Storage Locker and Secure Crate that you can decrypt for armor, weapons, and upgrades that may or may not come in handy during this assignment. Your primary objective in each station is to destroy the eight VI conduits located within the two “core cluster” rooms on the far end of the map. Getting there isn’t going to be easy, though, given the fact that several Advanced Assault Drones and at least one Advanced Rocket Drone are guarding each station’s central room. These drones can make for a tough fight, so make sure you’re using the appropriate equipment (vs. Synthetics upgrades, etc.).

To make matters worse, the VI has implemented security measures that trigger as the VI cores are destroyed. When the first VI core is destroyed, toxic gas begins pouring out of the vents in each station. When the ninth VI core is destroyed, (annoying) kinetic barrier fields power up in front of the doorways and remaining cores within each station. When the seventeenth VI core is destroyed, a few more Advanced Assault Drones power up to protect the seven remaining cores.

When all twenty-four cores have been destroyed, you’ll be subjected to “a burst of white noise” and will be awarded with experience and a choice between two new specialization classes/talents. Which specialization classes you get to pick from depends on which base class you’re playing (check out our classes section for a list of all choices). Although the “UNC: Rogue VI” assignment is now finished, I should also mention that you can access the data port on one of the terminals inside the “core cluster” room in the second Space Station to unlock the Vehicles: Combat Drones codex entry.

4 – Alliance Heavy Turrets

Four Alliance Heavy Turrets stationed here will begin firing on the Mako when you get within range. They’re hostile regardless of whether or not you’ve disabled the rogue VI at area #3.
