Nepmos Overview

Nepmos is located in the Erebus system of the Styx Theta cluster. If you’ve already completed the “UNC: Listening Post Theta” assignment, then you’ll be coming here to investigate the “UNC: Listening Post Alpha” assignment.

1 – Arrival

The drop out of the Normandy will land your squad toward the center of Nepmos’ operational area. The environment here is non-hazardous.

2 – Buried Safebox

This half-buried safebox contains a League of the One medallion needed for the “UNC: Locate Signs of Battle” assignment.

3 – Titanium Deposit

Survey this Titanium deposit to get one step closer to finishing the “Light Metals” section of the “UNC: Valuable Minerals” assignment and to earn a reasonable amount of experience and credits.

4 – Crashed Probe

As usual, you can salvage a couple of upgrades off this abandoned space probe.

5 – Listening Post Alpha

Speak with Lieutenant Durand here to learn that her soldiers are being pummeled by a seemingly never-ending army of Rachni Soldiers. Offer your assistance, then hop into the Mako to start blasting or hook your vehicle up to the nearby generator to get the brigade’s defensive turrets up and running again. Either way, you have to fend off two Rachni swarms before speaking to Durand again. When you do, one of her soldiers points out the coordinates of a Rachni base 500 meters below Nepmos’ surface (see area #10).

Additionally, you’ll learn that a ship carrying the Rachni came from somewhere in the Gorgon system of the Argos Rho cluster (an unidentified space facility, in fact). This will trigger the “UNC: Depot Sigma-23” assignment, but only if you’ve already completed the “UNC: Listening Post Theta” assignment. If not, then you’re headed to the planet of Altahe first.

In any case, loot the two medical kits and upgrade kit in the nearby buildings before heading out.

6 – Palladium Deposit

Survey this Palladium deposit to get one step closer to finishing the “Heavy Metals” section of the “UNC: Valuable Minerals” assignment and to earn a reasonable amount of experience and credits.

7 – Uranium Deposit

Survey this Uranium deposit to get one step closer to finishing the “Rare Earths” section of the “UNC: Valuable Minerals” assignment and to earn a reasonable amount of experience and credits.

8 – Mining Operation

The particle bores being used at this mine have been shut down and the Tenkarra Mining Consortium crew is nowhere to be found. Rachni apparently got them. Might as well loot their medical kit and technician kit while you’re here.

9 – Rachni Pits

Prepare to defend yourself from the onslaught of several Rachni Soldiers as you drive through this area.

10 – Rachni Infested Mine

Once you’ve fended off both swarms of Rachni at area #5, you’ll be able to enter this “Rachni infested mine.” And infested, it is. When you reach the main chamber, Rachni Soldiers will start dropping into the room at a rapid rate. Slay them as they drop down while continuing to move to the mine’s two back chambers. In each of these, you’ll face off against more Rachni Soldiers and a single, tougher Rachni Brood Warrior. When both Brood Warriors are dead, you’ll receive a notice that the Rachni threat on Nepmos has been eliminted and your “UNC: Listening Post Alpha” assignment will shift to completed.

Before rushing off to your next assignment, take a moment to loot the secure crate, two locked crates, and two crates here in the Rachni mine.
