Xawin Overview

Xawin is located in the Strenuus system of the Horse Head Nebula cluster. You will not be able to land here, though, until you’ve investigated the MSV Majesty just outside the planet’s orbit.

1 – Arrival

After boarding the Mako and dropping from the Normandy, you and your squad will be free to explore Xawin from this starting location. Keep in mind that this is a Level 1 Hazard planet, so don’t leave your vehicle for any extended periods of time.

2 – Corpse

A closer examination of the corpse lying here reveals that the person was killed while trying to mark the nearby mineral deposit. Strange.

3 – Iridium Deposit

Not only will a successful survey of this Iridium deposit bring you one step closer to finishing the “Heavy Metals” section of the “UNC: Valuable Minerals” assignment, but it will also earn you a reasonable amount of experience and credits.

4 – Abandoned Camp

This small camp has long since been abandoned, though it still has a working generator and computer system. Activating the generator will grant you access to the computer, which in turn will reveal a couple more locations of interest on the overhead map.

5 – Cobalt Deposit

Not only will a successful survey of this Cobalt deposit bring you one step closer to finishing the “Light Metals” section of the “UNC: Valuable Minerals” assignment, but it will also earn you a reasonable amount of experience and credits.

6 – Geth Trap

As soon as you reach this beacon, four Geth Armatures will surround the Mako. Commence firing.

7 – Palladium Deposit

Not only will a successful survey of this Palladium deposit bring you one step closer to finishing the “Heavy Metals” section of the “UNC: Valuable Minerals” assignment, but it will also earn you a reasonable amount of experience and credits.

8 – Ancient Debris

A successful recovery operation on this ancient debris will turn up an old fragment bearing the Chatti Outpost insignia, which is one of thirteen plot items needed for the “UNC: Turian Insignias” assignment. Grabbing it will also unlock the Turians: The Unification War codex entry if you don’t already have it.

9 – Crashed Probe

This crashed probe is guarded by a Thresher Maw, so be prepared for battle when you approach it. Once the Thresher Maw has been eliminated, you can grab some upgrades off the probe.

10 – Mercenary Camp

The perimeter of this camp is defended by four Alliance Heavy Turrets and four Mercenary Snipers, so approach with caution. After dealing with them, head inside the main base to encounter additional resistance from several more mercenaries.

When all hostiles within the base are dead, loot the storage locker and disposal canister on the ground floor and the crate and storage locker on the second floor. You’ll also discover Captain Willem’s body from the MSV Majesty on the second floor, which will prompt you to return to Citadel Station and report the bad news to Garoth as part of the “UNC: Privateers” assignment.
