5 Ways TaleWorld Could Make Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord Better Than the Original

Forbes’ Erik Kain has put together a list of five ways he thinks developer TaleWorld can improve over the original Mount & Blade in the recently announced sequel.

Here’s a couple of them:

2. The Story and quests

I’m not one for long cutscenes or hours spent in dialogue trees, but it would be nice to see less text and more interaction in Bannerlords. I don’t think everything would need to be (or could possibly be) voice-acted, but I do think better paced quests and storylines could help improve the overall experience, even if the game remained largely a sandbox.

4. More intuitive combat

The combat in Mount & Blade is pretty good, but it’s not great. It’s hard, and there’s a steep but not impossible learning curve, and once you begin to get the hang of it the combat can be quite a lot of fun.

Still, I think there’s room to improve on the combat and make it more intuitive and satisfying while not getting rid of the complexity or challenge. I don’t think War of the Roses actually accomplishes this, to be quite honest, though I was hoping it would serve as exactly the model for an upgraded M&B combat system.

Don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater, by any means, but give us some fine-tuning.
