Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures E3 Preview

MMO Ding! has conjured up a preview of Funcom’s Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures, after seeing the game firsthand at this year’s E3.

The second class we saw was the necromancer, the first time they’ve really showed one of the pet classes off in the game. Unlike the barbarian, the necromancer does no personal damage, as he relied on his pets to do everything for him. The necromancer had eight points that could be distributed among his pets, which act as cost points in a way, but were tied to the strength and mana cost of the pets. For example, with eight points the necromancer often cast a spell to call on scorpions, and so there were eight of the monsters running around since they cost only one point to cast. Outside of the scorpions, the necromancer also once cast a spell to call on some Ilderith, creatures that were so tall they loomed over the normal size necromancer, and because they could cast spells as a nuke and were more powerful than the scorpions, he could only call on four of them at once because they each cost two points to cast, equaling the eight point limit. The pets, overall, were very cool, as we got to see scorpions skittering about quickly over the ground, while the Ilderith stood in a circle, chanting, and throwing spells from a distance like some mythical coven.
