Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures Interview, Part Two

RPG Vault continues their Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures interview with Funcom’s Gaute Godager.

Jonric: Where does development stand right now? Are you feature-locked? How much more content do you have to add? What is your beta schedule, and how solid is the late March target launch date?

Gaute Godager: We are in the polish, pruning and balance stage. We are not adding more features, but there might be a need to change or disable things not working as intended before launch. Is that “feature locked”? Is an MMO ever completely feature locked? Content-wise, we have all we think we need. Will we add more before launch? Yes! Where? Only Beta knows… notice how we refer to the beta as a god. ;p

The release date is locked! There are still risks. There are always risks, but none so far have reached the stage where we are even subconsciously considering doing anything about the date.

We have been running a beta for a long time, and we are now ramping it up after the rewrite of the combat system. We will also host larger PvP-focused events when marketing deems it is wisest. The notice period for players on these events will be weeks, not months, so this is not the time to announce them. Will we have a beta open for everyone just before launch? We shall see. 😉
