Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance II Review

IC-Games has posted a review of Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance II, giving the action RPG an overall score of 92%. Check it out:

The city of Baldur’s Gate, indeed the whole environment, is absolutely stunning. On the one hand a lot of the monsters have an otherworld quality to them, Orc-like if you will. The humans and their buildings though look pure Hammer films, so much so that you almost expect Ralph Bates to emerge screaming in terror about the village of the damned or something. For the sheer detail involved just try going near a mouse. Scuttling around, of no apparent consequence, in one of the warehouses there’s a tremendous well I’d better not say lest the animal rights’ people come after me suffice to say it involves squelching noises. Sound is excellent, which ordinarily might not be high on your priorities but what sets good RPG’s apart is how much you get sucked in, and atmosphere is crucial to this. Controls are quite straightforward despite the array of options, and there’s enough of a challenge on the three settings to keep you going for weeks.
