Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition Needs to Sell 200,000 Copies to Cover Costs

Talking with NowGamer, Beamdog’s Trent Oster has given a ballpark estimate of the number of copies Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition would need to sell to cover costs, so that other Enhanced Editions (besides the already contracted one for Baldur’s Gate II) or even a new title or a Baldur’s Gate threequel might be considered.

Quotes ahead:

(My ballpark metric for success is 200,000 copies of Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition across the four platforms.)

(At that point, even after paying the various parties involved we’ll have covered our costs. I think the number is achievable at 50,000 copies per platform, I hope,) explained Oster.

(We’ve got skilled, full time staff and we need to know that at the end of the day there is enough money in the bank account to cover our costs and hopefully put a little away.)
