Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition Release Date Moved Up (Updated)

Trent Oster writes on his Twitter profile that the release date for Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition has been moved forward slightly. Originally set for November 30th, now Overhaul Games are targeting the 28th instead – just a 2 day difference, but appreciated by fans, no doubt.

We are targeting November 28 for all platforms. Since we have approvals, etc, we can’t 100% control the date on iOS, Mac and Android

Unfortunately it sounds like only the PC may make the date, although it’s also possible the other versions of the game may even release slightly earlier if fate is willing.

Update: We’ve also got wind of a statement from Tom Ohle of Evolve PR, who worked with BioWare in the early 2000s as PR lead and has returned for the Enhanced Edition:

Well, well, serendipity… you sure work in interesting ways. About 12 years ago I started my career at BioWare, right at the tail end of the mother of all expansion packs, Baldur’s Gate II: Throne of Bhaal. My next project there was Neverwinter Nights, on which the venerable Trent Oster was project lead.

And here we are, over a decade later, reunited, and it feels so good. We’re going to be helping Trent and the Overhaul Games team as they lead up to the currently-planned-for-November-28th launch of Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition on PC, Mac, iOS and (soon after) Android.

This is a huge step for tablet gaming — Baldur’s freaking Gate on iPad/Android tablets seems like a crazy wet dream…

Anyhow, if you’re completely unaware of what this is, go to http://baldursgate.com. Otherwise, be sure to let me know if you want to check the game out, or if you’d otherwise like to cover via interviews, asset posts and whatnot. Baldur’s Gate!!
