Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition Released on iPad

While owners of the first generation of iPad will have to wait a little longer (the title isn’t compatible with those or with any version of iOS antecedent to 6), a large chunk of iPad owners is going to be pretty happy about the news that Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition has been released on Apple’s platform.

While we may have had our qualms with this enhanced edition at release, being able to play Baldur’s Gate on tablets is going to be a big draw for new and old fans alike:

Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition for iPad Released

EDMONTON, ALBERTA — Developer Overhaul Games announces that Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition has been released, and it is now live in the Apple App Store.

The original Baldur’s Gate launched in 1998. With over 50 hours of epic gameplay, it quickly became the most celebrated Dungeons & Dragons fantasy roleplaying game series at that time.

Today Overhaul Games has brought this classic back to life on iPad. In addition to enhancing graphics and gameplay, Overhaul Games has added new allies to join your party, complete with unique quests. And for the ultimate test of tactical skills, players can enter the Black Pits for an arena challenge. Overhaul Games has also given PC, Mac, iPad, and Android tablet players the ability to join together in cooperative multiplayer.

Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition for iPad is available exclusively through the Apple App Store and is priced at $9.99. Two new characters priced at $2.99 are available as In-App Purchases, along with a new portrait pack for $1.99 and a new voice pack for $1.99.
