BioShock Reviews

Five more glowing reviews of 2K Games’ BioShock have been posted to the ‘net. The first is at gameSlave with an overall score of 9.5/10:

BioShock takes the FPS genre forward another notch. Not content at just being a simple shooter, it encapsulates all that is good about the gaming medium from an artistic standpoint and catapults it to a new level. Not afraid to get its hands dirty with cinematic and literary influences, it is an incredibly well-written and executed emotional journey through the ghostly remains of one man’s dream. It will make you feel things you haven’t felt before when playing games. It will make you think. And how often can we say that about the average FPS?

The second is at Stropp’s World with an overall score of 9/10:

Bioshock is a magnificent game. If you enjoyed the Deus Ex and System Shock series, or if you like deep stories in your games, I think you will enjoy Bioshock.

The third is at GamersInfo with no overall score:

If you’re a fan of a good story, you’ll enjoy Bioshock, even if you don’t like FPS games so much. If you’re a fan of FPS games, you’ll enjoy Bioshock, unless you’re adamant that the game be supremely challenging. I am a fan of both, and I truly enjoyed Bioshock for the visuals, the story, the moral dilemma of the Little Sisters and the challenging battles with Big Daddies. Now, would you kindly take the hype with a grain of salt and go ahead and give the game a whirl? I think you’ll be glad you did.

The fourth is at LANThrax with an overall score of 95%:

Bioshock is a great game. I can’t possibly write down all the details and great experiences I have had playing this game, because the article would end up being a book. Simply said – it’s an excellent game which is not only worth playing, but is essential because its a new monument in the evolution of first person shooters.

And the fifth is at Jolt Online Gaming with an overall score of 9.9/10:

The feeling of being watched, of being used, of being nothing but a pawn, balances perfectly with the game’s no-holds-barred approach to combat. It’s this mixture of ambience, emotion and plain old fun that sets BioShock apart from the scores of FPSes hitting the shelves this year. It’s neither perfect nor as revolutionary as some might make out, but it is one of the most progressive, gripping and downright fun games to hit the market in the last decade.
