Borderlands DLC Reviews

A handful of new reviews for Borderlands’ The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned and Mad Moxxi’s Underdome Riot are now available around the web.

We’ll start of with the Zombie Island DLC reviews at Gaming Nexus (“B”)…

It’s hard to beat the value of the Zombie Island of Dr. Ned, there’s a lot of good original content once you get past some of the first half of the content pack and the boss fight was a lot of fun. There are worse ways to spend $10 so if you’ve got time (and a few buddies) this is the pack to get.

…and Bright Hub (5/5)…

When it comes down to it, if you have already gotten through the story line in the original Borderlands (or close to it), you are ready for the Zombie Island of Dr. Ned. If not, you can see where it will take you as it’s all dependent on your progression in the original game. But, really, for only 800 Microsoft points (or a measley $10), this addon for Borderlands the game is superbly fun and you need to own it.

…before moving on to the Mad Moxxi reviews at Eurogamer (8/10)…

If the Underdome had “merely” been a Horde mode, that may have been fine, but it’s a lot more besides. It’s a glimpse into the internal machinery of Pandora, a rare chance to understand where you’ve been, and where you want to go next.

GameAlmighty (5/5)…

I’m happy with Mad Moxxi and I’m going to get my 800-points out of the expansion, so I have few complaints.

SFX360 (8/10)…

Mad Moxxi’s Underdome Riot definitely justifies its 800 Microsoft Point price tag with the new features it brings to Borderlands. The Underdome’s 125 Achievement Points are satisfying to earn albeit time consuming, a pair of skill points can be earned to power up your abilities, and the storage bank allows for more items to be stored for later use. In terms of actual gameplay time, expect to spend at least two hours for each of the three larger tournaments and around the same time for your first venture into the smaller tournament taking place in all three arenas.

…and Extreme Gamer (7.0/10)…

If Gearbox keeps pushing out more DLC, let us hope they can broaden the foundation with more fan requests, like a boosting the level cap, or adding some new vehicles. If not, I would love all this extra effort being diverted to making downloadable content put into creating the most ass-kicking sequel ever made. Oh, and let’s hope this not the last time we see the delightfully deadly, Mad Moxxi.
