Dark Messiah of Might and Magic Preview

GameDaily has put together a preview of Arkane Studios’ Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, based on what we know about the FPS/RPG hybrid up to this point.

One of the things that will make Dark Messiah unique among role playing games is that players won’t be stuck inside their class. After achieving a new level, players are free to put points into skills from any discipline tree. So, it’s possible to have a Mage with the endurance of a Warrior, or any number of different permutations. That’s just the beginning of the open ended gameplay. Ice spells not only freeze enemies, but they can be used on surfaces. You can throw an ice patch down on the ground and watch your foes struggle to gain footing or step to the side and watch a pursuer slip and fall off a cliff. There will be clear objectives, and multiple means of achieving them. Gravity control might appear to be a mystical cousin of the gravity gun (sans gun), but it’s still amazing to behold.
