DC Universe Online Players Increase 1000% Since Switch to F2P

If there’s anything we’ve learned over the past few years about subscription-based MMORPGs, it’s that a switch to a free-to-play business model will suddenly make your game far more attractive to millions of gamers. And that boost in activity can result in crazy numbers, like the 1000% increase in concurrent users that DC Universe Online is currently enjoying, as Tweeted by SOE’s John Smedley:

we are over 1000% of our pre-F2P concurrent numbers. We’re very aware of the long queues and other issues. We’re on it.

Another lesson learned: make sure you’re prepared for the influx of new traffic.
