Dragon EVO Online CCG RPG Shout Out

I’ve always loved collectible card games. I’ve played Magic the Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh TCG, Buffy the Vampire Slayer CCG, as well as a few online CCG’s Hearthstone and GWENT. So, when I heard of a new web-based online CCG, called Dragon Evo, I just had to head over and see what it was all about.

Dragon EVO, developed and published by Magical Pictures and Zegenie Studios, has recently entered its Beta phase. So although there’s still a bit of tweaking going on we can still get a pretty good impression of the final game, and what it has to offer.

“Dragon Evo: The Card Game lets you play through the eyes of the powerful, bloodthirsty Rutai, the scorned, resourceful Highwind, or the peaceful, welcoming Hologev. March across Tyrenir in the name of the Dragon Emperor and conquer your enemies. Regroup, rebuild, and retaliate against your oppressors to save your nation and safeguard your borders. Form alliances with other races and creatures to restore the balance of nature to ensure the Nations of Man once again can find peace and welcome the Dragons back to Erendor.”

Dragon Evo squashes together elements of collectible card games and RPG’s. Not only can you collect powerful cards to build a strong deck, but you can also level up your abilities, cards and methods of attack. You are also able to fortify your deck with special resources and minerals.

There are a number of storyline options to play through that will not only show you the ropes but also give you the backstory of the three factions. There are also some standalone story modes as well, which aren’t based on any particular faction, but still allow you to pad out the lore and backstories of Dragon Evo.

The fully released game is due to contain 600 creature cards, 150 unique quests and 3 faction storylines, though there may still be slightly less than that until full release.

You may be wondering if Dragon Evo is going to be a giant money-sink. Well you’ll be very pleased to know that not only is the game completely free to play, but you can also gain and buy more cards purely by playing the game. Of course, if you do want to bulk up your deck you can buy more cards, though of course this will not be compulsory. Dragon Evo will not be a pay-to-win game.

If this has whet your whistle and you’d like to find out more, then head on over to the Dragon Evo Patreon site, and give the beta demo a try, it’s not the finished product of course but what they have so far is still pretty interesting.
