Duke Nukem Movie Adaptation Possibly Starring John Cena is in Pre-Production

In June 2017, Randy Pitchford of Gearbox Software stated that a Duke Nukem film as long in the making as Uncharted’s film debut is very close to entering production. Suddenly, there is a lot of positive news to be heard about Duke Nukem’s movie adaptation as Paramount Pictures has bought the movie rights directly from Gearbox Software, while Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes is set to produce. John Cena is reportedly in talks to star as Duke Nukem; personally I could envision The Rock or Arnold Schwarzenegger performing in the lead role, although John Cena may be able to pull it off too.

There is no word on a completed script or further casting, but I feel it would be appropriate for the storyline to centre on or at least follow a core concept of Duke Nukem: Land of the Babes from the third PlayStation 1 game to empower the women in the film by having them assist Duke Nukem in battling against the hostile alien invasion.

Jason plays all genres of games and enjoys all different kinds of experiences that the games industry has to offer. Jason's favourite PlayStation exclusive franchises throughout various eras include: Crash Bandicoot, God of War, Gran Turismo, inFamous, Killzone, Little Big Planet, MotorStorm, Resistance, Spyro the Dragon, Uncharted, Wipeout and various games that never became big name franchises. A special mention goes to Black Rock's superb Split Second: Velocity as it is rather unbelievable that it will never receive a sequel.

Jason now mainly plays modern PlayStation games on home console and portably, but occasionally returns to the old retro classics on the 3DO, PS1 and PS2 such as discovering Cool Spot Goes to Hollywood 20 years after its original release on PS1. Jason is happy to see gaming coming full circle with updates for retro classics such as Alien Breed, Superfrog and Crash Bandicoot.
