Dungeons & Dragons Heroes Reviews

Two new reviews for Atari’s Dungeons & Dragons Heroes have hit the web over the last couple of days. The first is at Boomtown with an overall score of 7/10:

It’s clear that there could have been a little more flair encased within Heroes. Whilst it is thoroughly enjoyable, it just feels a bit too familiar. There’s nothing here that’s not been done before; no real innovation and more importantly, no reason to but this above anything else. It’s not a bad game by any stretch of the imagination, it’s just not quite as polished or as full as we’ve come to expect from our games more recently. If you’re a fan of this sort of game, then you’re not going to be disappointed as long as you realise you’re going to be treading some pretty familiar ground here. The dungeons, the swamp land, the caves. I know it may come across as being trite, but it really has been done before.

And the second is over at VideoGamesLife with an overall score of 50/100:

Dungeons & Dragons Heroes is the best example of average gaming we’ve ever encountered. For every good part, there’s an equal bad one to counteract it. There are loads of items, environments and weapons to choose from, but each one is ludicrously clichéd and as unoriginal as a Christmas number one. It’s entertaining in both single and multiplayer for a while, but it’s ultimately shallow and not particularly rewarding. If you’re after an entertaining, no-frills experience to keep you and few friends going into the wee hours on a Friday night, it’s a great addition to anyone’s Xbox collection, but if you’re after anything more than just cheap thrills and mana potions then you’ve got the wrong game.
