E3 2017 Bethesda Conference Highlights

Bethesda at E3 2017 have made some major announcements and some not so major ones. A lot of people were hyped to see what Bethesda would bring is this year. Aside from the two major games, there were some cool mini announcements too. We’re going to look at some of the key releases that will be coming out this year from the Bethesda.

Doom VFR and Fallout 4 VR

I suspect that this is one that people have been waiting for a while now. With the gruesome and epic world of DOOM, the player will now be able to get up close and personal. Personally ripping demons limb from limb; how else can you play this classic? And, as for Fallout 4, this is surely to be one to keep an eye on. By taking the Boston wasteland and making a fully immersive experience, they are creating a truly open world VR game for the first time. It will be exciting to see how well it is implemented. The only thing I am not looking forward to is a face to face experience with a Deathclaw.

The Evil Within 2

Anyone who played the first game and its respective DLC’s, will know this one was to be expected. Since the last game didn’t really finish the story, we need to know what happens next. So, Sebastian is back and this time it looks like he is in even more trouble. Searching for his lost daughter, he must return to STEM to find out the truth. And, of course, along the way there will be surreal moments and some horrifying monsters. It certainly looks like it has the potential to outshine its predecessor, but time will tell. Bethesda have set the spooky release date of Friday 13th October 2017.

Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus

Yes, that’s right Bethesda announced two brand new games that will be out by the end of this year. A direct sequel to Wolfenstein: The New Order, we will once again be following the story of BJ Blazkowicz. This time in Nazi occupied America, he seeks to start a revolution to bring back hope to the American people. Coming October 27th 2017.

The Elder Scrolls Legends: Heroes of Skyrim

The long awaited strategic card game is getting some Skyrim DLC. Perhaps not the most exciting thing to come out of the Bethesda conference but one for the card game lovers. If you enjoy the series and the card game then I would say this is definitely for you.

Quake Champions

So, this one has been known about for a while now but it still deserves a mention. Not only are Bethesda releasing the game this year, they are also holding an E-Sports competition for it in the fall. To be held at Quake Con in Dallas, Texas it will surely be one for all the e-sports fans. If you are interested in taking part, then get yourself practising because there is a nice sum of $1 million at stake. So, what are you waiting for? Get your Quake on!

Dishonored 2: Death of the Outsider

In a stand alone DLC, it looks like the protagonist is Meagan, ally of Emily and Corvo. In this trailer we see her sneaking onto a ship to rescue Daud – antagonist of the original game. Their plan: to kill the Outsider. There wasn’t much else to glean from this one but if you enjoyed Dishonored 2 then you should certainly stay alert for this release.

Skyrim on Nintendo Switch

Once again, this one has been known about since the initial release of the console. Skyrim is coming to the Switch. It will certainly make some fans happy in this more immersive experience. Also, if you have a Link Amiibo, you can unlock the Master Sword as well as Link’s outfit in game. Because who doesn’t want to play as a burly Nord dressed like Link?

So, those were all the major announcements for Bethesda this year. Of course, we still have no word of a new Elder Scrolls game but we can always keep our fingers crossed for next year. I've always had a passion for games and, since I found my passion for writing, I wanted to write about them. I'll play just about anything if I can get my hands on it. I have an unhealthy obsession with all things Star Wars and my motto is "Never apologise for being a nerd."
