Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Preview

ComputerAndVideoGames.com has written up their own preview of Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, after checking out the RPG at a recent press event. Here’s a bit to get you started:

Story time is over. The screen fades, revealing my plucky wood elf imprisoned in a cell. A hideous lizard man nearby calls over to me, “The gods hate you wood elf! You’re going to die here!” I get the feeling that my well-groomed avatar has gotten himself in to a spot of bother. I hear more ruckus as guards escort a shadowy figure through the holding area. “He’s dead! I just know he’s dead!” he bellows. I recognise the voice – its Patrick Stewart coming to save me! Err, I mean Emperor Uriel Septim!

The guards open my cell door and order me to stand by the ‘window’, which is actually a small gaping hole in the wall. After much confusion as to why I’m inside this particular cell, Emperor Septim approaches me before exclaiming, “I recognise you. I’ve seen you in my dreams”. A short bit of exposition later and his guards – who I later find out are called ‘The Blades’ – remove the cell wall, ‘open sesame’-style to reveal a secret passage.
