Even More Fable Reviews

Today brings us another large batch of reviews for Fable, so if you still haven’t decided if you should pick up a copy, you may want to have a look. The first is at NetJak with an overall score of 8.5/10:

I believe if you purchase this game and take the media as a grain of salt, you will enjoy it as much as I have. Mark my words, just as Grand Theft Auto III was a glimpse into the future, so is Fable. Be a part of gaming history. Get the game, enjoy it for what it’s worth and for the love of Master Chief. Take your time.

The second is at GotNext with an overall score of 4/5:

When it comes right down to it, Fable seems to be no more than a glorified life sim with a good story and combat system. The game is all too short and confined, and when coupled with its easy difficulty, it fails to live up to the hype. I guess I just expected so much more after 4 years, but that’s not to say Fable isn’t a great game. It is, just don’t go into it expecting the RPG to end all RPGs, because you’ll walk out fairly unsatisfied.

The third is at GameShark with an overall score of 4.5/5:

In the end analysis, Fable is a first-rate RPG that will have fans of the genre more than happy. It has some small flaws and is not quite the open, never-ending quest that the game’s hype would have had us believe, but a play through is well worth the gamer’s time. And perhaps at least two times through: once as the ultimate do-gooder and once as a tyrant that would make Hitler blush.

The fourth is at GamerFeed with an overall score of 3.5/5:

Overall, Fable is well worth your time, although you might want to consider renting over buying. The interesting aspects such as buying houses, marriage, and trading with merchants will keep you entertained. However, with four years of development, it boggles the mind to think that the developers couldn’t come up with a more involving story, better character development and length. Still, Fable should be enough to satisfy RPG fans until KOTOR2 and Jade Empire release later this year and in 2005 respectively.

The fifth is at PGNx Media with an overall score of 9.0/10:

All in all, while it doesn’t live quite up to the admittedly lofty proclamations of visionary Peter Molyneux, and there are pieces of the game that feel unfilled, Fable is an enjoyable experience and certainly one of the best role playing games on Xbox.

And the sixth is at PAX Gamers with an overall score of 95%:

Overall, Fable is almost everything I wanted. The bad/good thing, the choosen path, is definately not a gimmick and plays such a big role, that sometimes that it forces you to be good, not because it actually makes you do it, but being bad is not much fun and has so many flaws. (mentioned above) Was Fable worth the wait? Yes. Would I of waited until 2005 for all the above things to be improved or fixed? Yes, in that case it would of definately have the possibility of being the best RPG of all-time. At the end of the day, you have to look at Fable as being the first of a series, that hopefully lasts a long time. Scoring the first in a series of a 95% is unheard from me, but it is well worth the score. So go out and rent Fable and most of you will want to buy it and I doubt you will be dissapointed.
