Freedom Force vs. the Third Reich Diary #8

IGN PC continues their Freedom Force vs. the Third Reich diary series, this time with Irrational Games’ Alexx Kay discussing how the team balances the game’s team of superheroes. An excerpt:

Our first thought was to simply require four characters on the team, but that idea didn’t last long. It could be largely circumvented by just building a team composed of three extremely cheap, throwaway “heroes” and one 29,500 point uber-hero–not much of an improvement. A more workable idea is a per-hero point cap. Just as we put a point cap on the team as a whole (currently defaulting to 30,000 points), we can also put a point cap on each individual hero–say, 10,000 points. Thus, if you want to spend all your points, you need to have at least three heroes on your team. That’s the model we’re trying out now, though it’s still very much subject to change before we’re done.

You’ll also find some new images from the game, so be sure to check ’em out.
