Gamebryoâ„¢ Chosen to Enhance Graphics for Freedom Force Sequel

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (January 9, 2004) – NDL, a leading developer of 3D graphics technology for the computer and video game industry, announced today that Gamebryoâ„¢ is being used in Irrational Games’ award-winning Freedom Force sequel titled Freedom Force vs. the Third Reich. Scheduled to ship in spring 2004, the comic book-inspired tactical role-playing game features a new league of heroes and villains, streamlined combat system and spectacular graphic enhancements using NDL’s Gamebryo engine and tools.

(NDL continues to stay at the forefront of technology and provide us with the most flexible tools available so we can spend more time creating great gameplay and compelling content,) said Ken Levine, co-founder of Irrational Games. (We began working with NDL back in 2000 and have been very pleased with the level of support we’ve received and the NDL team’s willingness to implement feature requests.)

Gamebryo’s advanced graphics features enable the programmers to showcase the Freedom Force characters and create a new dimension to the classic comic books of the 1960s. Features such as character skinning allow great-looking characters and bone level-of-detail allows the artists to create dozens of life-like characters on screen at any one time. Gamebryo’s character tools also allow the artists to easily edit and tweak animations to get just the right look for each superhero.

(Gamebryo’s flexibility allows us to create the 3D comic book look unique to our title – it doesn’t look like any other game that has been created with Gamebryo,) said Jonathan Chey, Australia managing director of Irrational Games.

(Freedom Force was a great game and it’s always rewarding for our team to work with dedicated and talented developers like Irrational Games that can push the boundaries with Gamebryo,) said John Austin, president of NDL.

Powered by NDL’s engine, Freedom Force received great reviews from major publications: a 10 out of 10 from Computer Gaming World, a 94 percent from PC Gamer and a 9.3 out of 10 from IGN.
