Gauntlet: Seven Sorrows Interview, Part Two

RPG Vault is offering up the second installment to their ongoing Gauntlet: Seven Sorrows interview, where they once again speak with Midway’s associate producer Nate Birkholz. Here’s a taste:

Q: What kinds of opponents will players have to defeat? Will there be any classic ones, and how broad is the overall assortment?

A: We have an all-new collection of enemies for Gauntlet: Seven Sorrows. We did a lot of concepts for the game, and a great deal of background art for the various cultures represented in the world, and let our concept artists’ imaginations go wild. Then, we selected form these concepts and honed it down into a smaller number of enemies the player will face. In order to make the gameworld feel more immersive, we have left many of the old enemies behind, but the new ones have strong identities and should be a welcome addition to the series.

We have dozens of different enemies in the game. For example, the Emperor has lost his grip on his empire, and players will face many of the Imperial troops who have spread to the far corners of the world. We have legions of imperial troops in gleaming, ornate golden armor who wield a variety of weapons. We also have great forest beasts, hulking trolls, insects, wizards and evil druids, and sneaky tribal assassins who hide in the tall grass and sneak up on the player. There are pirates, gargoyles, wizards and the six corrupted Imperial sorcerers who betrayed the heroes and the Emperor.
